Shelby of Meridian discusses $75m acquisition financing

Name: Carol Shelby Title: Managing Director Company Name: Meridian Capital Group, LLC Year Founded: 1991 Years in Commercial Real Estate: 23 In the last 12 months, which project, transaction, honor or accomplishment are you most proud of and why? Over the past year my most notable transaction was a $75 million acquisition financing arranged for The Nash, a newly repositioned luxury multifamily property totaling 191 units located in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan. This is not the largest loan I closed over this period but it is significant as the property was formerly a hotel and I closed it with a life insurance company lender. Who are three women- living or dead - that you would like to have drinks with and why? 1. Barbra Streisand because she is such a talented singer and I love her! 2. Golda Meir because she was an extremely powerful and inspirational role model as a strong and iconic Jewish woman. 3. My maternal grandmother because my mother means the world to me and I would like to spend time and get to know who her mother was. What is your favorite quote? My favorite quote is, "You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough." I'm a firm believer in living each day to its absolute fullest and I think this quote is a good one to live by. What are you doing to increase your client base from local / regional markets to national / global markets? In 2014, I've attended more events and have increased my time allocated to networking with my peers in commercial real estate in order to find new opportunities and continue to expand my business. I have also been more active with the ICSC's regional and national conferences to broaden my outreach across the country.
