Shawmut Design and Construction completes Limani restaurant's new location at Rockefeller Center

Shawmut Design and Construction has completed Limani restaurant's new Midtown location at 45 Rockefeller Plaza. The new space pays homage to the Greek seaside featuring a reflecting pool in the main dining room, lighting reminiscent of the sun's reflection across the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas and a six ft. spiraling sculpture of 250 nickel fish. Sourcing the many materials, including 11 different tiles and stones, during the 20-week build-out presented one the project's biggest accomplishments for Shawmut. The team's scope of work on the 8,000 s/f, 200-seat seafood restaurant included: * Installing a 12 x 3 ft. white onyx framed reflecting pool—one of the largest such installations in an area restaurant in more than 50 years. * Laying reflective white marble floors and tiles and installing custom-grooved sandstone walls and columns that represents rocks soaring out of the water. * Building the entrance that symbolizes the ribs of ship's hull. * Fashioning a range of different tiles and stones to create an aesthetic that complements the wood accents. * Creating an onyx backlit bar that allows the veins and markings of the stone to show through.
