RIPCO to manage and lease Electchester Shopping Center

Queens, NY RIPCO Real Estate has been hired to manage and lease the historic Electchester Shopping Center. With several spaces currently available, the center’s owner, JIB Realty, has engaged RIPCO to implement a strategic management and leasing initiative. RIPCO plans to transform the 58,250 s/f retail property, situated on 3.71 acres, into a retail destination.

RIPCO’s approach combines retail leasing expertise with experienced property management, ensuring the delivery of long-term value for owners, investors, tenants, and customers.

The center is anchored by an Associated Supermarket, and RIPCO plans to reposition the rest of the property by enhancing the tenant mix and filling the vacant spaces with a curated list of national and local retailers.

RIPCO Real Estate’s Michael Korff, president, and Benjamin Weiner, executive vice president, are part of the management and leasing team overseeing the property management for Electchester Shopping Center.

“We are excited to take on the management and leasing of Electchester Shopping Center, a property with deep historical roots in the Queens community. Our goal is to rejuvenate this iconic retail hub by strategically repositioning the center to attract a diverse mix of national and local retailers. We look forward to bringing fresh opportunities to the neighborhood while honoring the center’s legacy as a cornerstone for residents and visitors alike,” said Michael Korff, president of RIPCO’s property management division.

The Electchester Shopping Center has a history closely tied to the development of the surrounding community. Established in the mid-20th century, it was designed to meet the needs of members of Local Union No. 3, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, as well as members of the surrounding community. The center was part of the larger Electchester housing development, which provided affordable homes for electrical workers. Over the years, it has become a vital hub for the neighborhood, offering a variety of retail shops, services, and food options. Its history reflects both the growth of the surrounding community and the changing demographics of the borough.

Located on Parsons Blvd. in Fresh Meadows, the center offers access to major highways such as the Long Island Expwy., Van Wyck Expwy., and Grand Central Pkwy. It serves the surrounding residential community and attracts visitors from nearby areas. Its proximity to Queens College, less than a mile away, makes it a popular destination for students.
