The property, vacant except for an abandoned school building built in 1962, is located within 200 yards of the town of Cortlandt Train Station. The property was purchased by the Metro North Railroad for the express purpose of swapping the 10.3+ acres with Local 14-14B of the International Union of Operating Engineers, for their 8.9+acres in front of the train station.
The purchase of the Keon site was a key component of the planned $29 million expansion of the town of Cortlandt train station.
The Keon Center, a 501 3 nonprofit charitable organization, provides comprehensive vocational life skills training to its clients with disabilities. Michael Fitzpatrick is the chairman of the board, and William Melville is the executive director of The Keon Center.
Incorporated in 1954 as Community Aid for Retarded Children, (C.A.R.C, Incorporated). The Keon Center has since expanded its services to adults.
William Robb, Esq., was the attorney representing The Keon Center. Metro North was represented in this transaction by Judith Schwartz, Esq., of the MTA law department, while Alan Singer, Esq., of Welby Brady & Greenblatt LLP represented Local 14-14B.
As exclusive agent for The Keon Center, Reid was the sole broker in this transaction.
Reid, a commercial real estate broker and cons ultant, specializes in senior housing and nonprofit and special use facilities, such as churches, schools, and colleges.
