Radisson is still developing: A 300-acre planned community surrounded by nature
There is a delicate beauty to the Radisson community that remains no matter what the season. Radisson's well-manicured trees, winding drives, and pristine lakes and ponds ensure a beautiful setting to the residents of the five square mile development. It is this factor that plays a large part in the community's popularity as a residential area.
Radisson, one of the area's most prominent planned communities, offers a wide variety of amenities to its residential as well as commercial occupants. Visitors will take note of the thoughtful, measured approach to the creation of an area that seems to balance the natural environment with a lifestyle many people seek.
The site was purchased in 1969 by the New York State Urban Development Corp., which is Radisson's developer. The goal behind the development was to offer a diversity of housing selections as well as create a major site for business and industry. The success and continued growth of Radisson can be found in its visionary approach, not to create a place apart, but to create a complementary community as part of one of Onondaga County's most attractive areas, in the town of Lysander and the Village of Baldwinsville.
Radisson offers single-family homes, available in traditional and contemporary styles. Four subdivisions are in various phases of construction. These include Island Meadows, off Town Center Rd., Whisper Ridge and Clare Park, both off Willett Pwy., Crimson Ridge, off Deep Glade Dr. and River Grove, off Drake's Landing Rd. Two additional subdivisions are in planning stages.
Townhouses, patio homes, condominiums and apartments are also available. The apartment complexes include Amesbury Place Apartments, Center Pointe, Greenway Apartments, Glacier Ridge Apartments, The Meadows, Woodsboro Apartments, River Knoll at Radisson, and Silverwood at Radisson. River Knoll is currently planning its second phase of 80 additional apartment units. Ranging from luxury styles to senior subsidized, there are choices for everybody. Those interested in an apartment may call the apartment line at (315) 638-9370.
The 950-acre Radisson Corporate Park provides building sites for industry and offices. Over 30 firms have located in the park to date. Some of the businesses that have established themselves here include Anheuser-Busch, Inc., Arnold Transportation Services, Gypsum Express, McLane Northeast, Plumley Engineering, Specialized Packaging, AAB/SSAC, and the Lysander Town Hall. The Radisson Health Center is open and leasing space. There are approximately 300 zoned industrial/commercial acres available for sale. This prime land is perfect for manufacturing, distribution and warehousing.
Among the many amenities, Radisson boasts the Radisson Nursery School, the Child Time Child Care Center, Little Lukes Day Care Center, four parks including Kerri Hornaday Park, a heated outdoor swimming pool complex which includes a toddler pool, handball and tennis courts, two baseball fields, basketball courts, the Aspen House, multiple tot lots and the 18-hole championship golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones. The Radisson Greens Golf Course features a full-service restaurant and lounge with an outdoor dining terrace and banquet rooms. There are more than 10 miles of paved trails for walking, jogging and biking, and more are being added as the subdivisions develop. A summer recreation program benefits both children and adults alike.
The Radisson Community Association, Inc. (RCA) is a not-for-profit corporation formed to promote the health, safety, welfare, education, recreation and cultural enrichment of owners/members and residents of Radisson. Additionally, the RCA preserves, protects and enhances certain lands and facilities that are set aside for the use and enjoyment of all residents. Annual assessments are charged to operate and maintain these facilities and amenities.
