New York, NY PWC hosted its Architects & Engineers Event at Steelcase Showroom this year. The event included an hour of networking followed by two panel discussions.

Nicole Woolard, Esq., an associate at Duane Morris, moderated the first panel. On the panel was Michael Brothers, principal, Stantec; Susan Hamos, P.E., senior vice president, structures, WSP; Anjana Kadakia, P.E., LEED AP BD+C, senior principal & Mumbai office director, Thornton Tomasetti; and Carrie Moore, associate director, Skidmore Owings & Merrill LLP. The panel discussed various projects and everything from the pros and cons of different delivery methods including the design assist trend, to resiliency design, to what makes a winning design team.

Anne Fletcher, a principal at HOK, moderated the second panel comprised entirely of panelists from the LaGuardia Airport Redevelopment team. On the panel was Maxine Hill, vice president, WSP; Ali Istchenko, P.E., project coordinator, LaGuardia Gateway Partners; Kelly Smolar, P.E., senior project manager, Skanska Walsh Design-Build Joint Venture; Marion White, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, regional leader, aviation + transportation, HOK; and Cheryl Yetka, treasurer, The Port Authority of NY & NJ. Focusing specifically on the $4 billion LaGuardia project, the panel gave a thorough presentation on the project design, logistics, delivery methods, team-building, accountability, and MWBE goals.

Events like PWC’s A&E panels help remind those in the audience of why they come to PWC events: to learn and to grow their business. It is essential in the construction industry to hire the right team. As panelist Carrie Moore said, “When you hire teams, you’re bringing together a collaborative community where relationships are linked until the job is done.” PWC’s valuable network helps companies and professionals make the right connections to build their teams.

The gold sponsors for the event were Stantec, HOK, Steelcase and Thornton Tomasetti. The bronze sponsor was Pullman.
