Rocky Hill, CT On March 1st, Professional Women in Construction’s Connecticut chapter (PWC-CT) recognized four women in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry at their annual awards ceremony held at the Sheraton Hartford South. The honorees included Lenore Janis, one of the co-founders and former president of PWC National.

Janis, a resident of Manhattan, was honored with the Founders Award. This award is given to a woman that the PWC-CT board of directors feels has demonstrated ongoing dedication to women in the AEC field. She has strived for excellence in her career while consistently giving back to the AEC community and advancing the careers of women. Janis helped found PWC in 1980 to advocate for women and other “non-traditional populations” in the construction industry.

The other awardees were: Maria Loitz (BVH Integrated Services, P.C.), Sarah Giardini (The Associated Construction Co.) and Alondra DeLeon (Gilbane Building Company), all honored for  their accomplishments in the industry.
