On January 16, Professional Women in Construction (PWC) presented two programs in their newly launched Continuing Education program: "Waterproofing" and "Green Roofs." The programs were sponsored and presented by SOPREMA, Inc. and Professional Construction Group of New York (PCGNY Corp.) at Club 101. Topics are AIA/HSW-approved and participants earned one Learning Unit (LU) per class. This was PWC's second program in the series.
SOPREMA, founded in 1908, is a world-wide manufacturer in the commercial roofing and waterproofing industry specializing in the development and production of SBS (styrene butadiene styrene) engineered asphaltic membrane. PCGNY is a leading exterior restoration and waterproofing contractor.
Dorothy Wasiak, vice president of PCGNY and chairman of the PWC continuing ed program, was a program presenter. Wasiak has over 14 years of experience in construction with expertise in green roofs, sustainability budgeting, and property management.
SOPREMA's presenters were Dan Flickinger, technical representative for waterproofing, green roofs and liquid applied systems division, and Maciej Tobolewski, regional liquid & waterproofing manager. Both have worked in the roofing and waterproofing industry since the 1990s.
The next topic in the PWC Continuing Ed series is "Building Science: New York City Projects" to be presented on February 26th by ALC Environmental, 8:30 a.m. at General Society, 20 West 44th St. The course will instruct attendees on current New York City regulations applicable to asbestos, lead, mold and their specific requirements. AIA/HSW credit is one LU. Classes are presented at no charge to PWC members and $10 for non-members; advance registration is required.
