Professional Profile: Meredith Berman Lovejoy, 2013

Name: Meredith Berman Lovejoy Title: Associate Principal, Director of Global Marketing Company: Shen Milsom & Wilke, LLC Location: Headquarters are in New York, N.Y.; there are 13 offices worldwide Birthplace: New York, N.Y. Education: BA Cum Laude, St. Lawrence University First job outside of real estate: My first job after college was writing proposals for grant funding for the Rainforest Alliance in N.Y.C. First job in real estate or allied field: Marketing Coordinator at HOK Architects in NYC. What do you do now and what are you planning for the future? I create and implement strategic marketing initiatives, including a mix of business development, media relations, and marketing. I enjoy doing this and hope to continue to do it well into the future. How do you unwind from a busy day in real estate? A glass of wine with my husband, a good book, or some intelligent junk TV. Playing with or reading to my five-year old twin boys is also a great escape. Favorite book or author: I enjoy historical and cultural fiction as well as biography with the occasional "chick-lit" or psychological thriller. Recent favorites have included: "The Aviator's Wife" by Melanie Benjamin; "Next To Love" by Ellen Feldman; "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" by Jamie Ford; "Tigers in Red Weather" by Liza Klassman; anything by Philippa Gregory; "Kite Runner" and subsequent novels by Khaled Hosseini; "Steve Jobs" by Walter Isaacson; "Bossypants" by Tina Fey; "The Piano Teacher" Janice Yee; anything by Lisa See or Amy Tan...I could go on and on. I commute on Metro North from my home in Connecticut so unwinding always begins with a good book on the train! Favorite movie: I really can't remember the last time I went to a movie. I'd have to say "When Harry Met Sally" because it's a movie I have always enjoyed and can easily imagine watching again (when is the question!). Last song you purchased/downloaded? This summer my husband and I serendipitously ended up seeing Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers with special guest Edie Brickell perform at the Stamford Palace Theater. While I've typically been a top 40's music junkie, I'm in love for the moment with the bluegrass album I purchased after the show: "Love has come for you." One word to describe your work environment: Collaborative. Rules to live by in business: My MO in business is to be proactive, collaborative, and transparent. Another rule I try to live by: keep calm and carry on. If you could invite one person to dinner (living or dead) who would it be and where would you go? It's a toss-up between Tina Fey and Anne Morrow Lindbergh. With Tina, I'd want to dine in a hip N.Y.C. restaurant preferably in TriBeCa or the Meat Packing District; with Anne Lindbergh I'd want to sip wine overlooking the L.I. Sound on a porch in Darien, CT. What is your dream job? Hopefully the one I'm in!

We support green construction. Just not this kind - by Tammy Smith

Most people think of St. Patrick’s Day as a fun footnote on the calendar. In construction logistics, however, it’s a full-scale operational variable — especially if your work touches major metro areas with major parades and, let’s call it what it is, enthusiastic celebrants.
