President's message: Wilson selected as 2008 president

The NYSCAR Board/Annual Meeting was held September 9, 2007 at the Courtyard by Marriott in Saratoga Springs, New York. The following members were elected to serve as officers for 2008: Maureen Wilson, CCIM, SIOR, president, Binghamton, Joseph F. Rowley, first vice president, Rochester, Michael Johnson, second vice president, Buffalo, Richard Ferro, CCIM, secretary, Albany and John Lavelle, treasurer, Hudson Valley. The following members were elected to serve as governors of the Association for a three year term: Harvey Kolin, Long Island, Donald Welch, SIOR, Albany and Ted Welter, Rochester. Congratulations to all! The board of governors will be meeting again in January in Fayetteville, New York. October 1, 2007 kicked off the Developing and Syndicating: Big Money Real Estate course, instructed by Chet Allen, CCIM, SEC of Encinitas, California. The course was held at the Desmond Hotel and Conference Center in Albany, New York and was very well received by 61 attendees. This two-day workshop drew attendees from across New York State, as well as Indiana, South Carolina, Massachusetts, New Jersey, California, Maryland, and Connecticut. In November, the National Association of Realtors will hold its annual conference in Las Vegas. Please visit Realtor.org for the latest schedule of events, which includes commercial programs. There will also be tours available and entertainment by James Taylor and Bill Cosby. In December, the New York State, New Jersey and Pennsylvania Associations of Realtors will hold Triple Play 2007, December 4-6. NYSCAR will be accepting nominations for the 2007 REALTOR of the Year. If you would like to recommend a NYSCAR member for the award, please send a nomination letter to the NYSCAR office, 130 Washington Ave., Albany, New York 12210. Please send the letter BY December 15, 2007. NYSCAR will also be looking for members to serve on the various committees for 2008. Please consider service on one or more of the following committees: Bylaws, Education, Grievance, Member Services/Business Opportunities/Special Events, Member Development, National Affairs & Legislation, Professional Standards, and Strategic Planning.
