New York, NY Plaza Construction had a participating role in the historic rebuilding and reopening of the 53,000 s/f Tin Building at Pier 17, the site of the former Fulton Fish Market and now houses the much anticipated Jean-Georges Gourmet Food Hall. Plaza led the detailed replication of the NYC Landmarks building in the South St. Seaport District. The Tin Building was designed by Roman & Williams and developed by Howard Hughes Corporation.

Plaza Construction dismantled the entire structure of the original Fulton Fish Market, and removed the existing pier prior to building a new pier. This allowed the new building to be relocated 33 feet to the east and elevated so it is out of the flood plain. Plaza then proceeded to build the new structure, while restoring a select iron and steel structural members and providing an exact replication of the facade and keeping the flavor of the original fish market. The interior component, headed by Peter Hulbert, Plaza’s executive in charge, included an intense number of commercial kitchens and exotic food stations to serve the gourmet eatery with specialty destinations such as Hikku, the Fulton Fish Co., Taquito, and a full traditional marketplace where shoppers can find everything from fresh bread and cheese to delicious fish and meat.
