Park Avenue Building and Roofing intern Hussey helps rebuild

According to Park Avenue Building and Roofing, Brian Hussey, a summer intern, provided rebuilding services to the community following Hurricane Sandy. Hussey, a junior at St. Anthony's High School in Huntington, sprang into action when he learned that teachers who worked with his mother had suffered flooding and damage from the hurricane. Moved by the suffering and struggling he saw around him, Hussey decided to reach out to his community to help people in need. On the first day following the storm, he began helping to gut and repair flooded basements in the area. Hussey shares his passion for community service with his family, and gets involved wherever he can. He said that while interning at Park Avenue, he was able to experience the power of giving back to the community through the firm's charitable arm, The Gilbert Rivera Foundation. Over the summer, Hussey was involved with the foundation's golf outing, and was inspired by the people who regularly contribute their time and resources to charity. When asked about his experiences in rebuilding his community, Hussey said, "It was such a good feeling to see people who have suffered smile again." He also credited his internship at Park Avenue with giving him the confidence to walk into a construction site and the technical knowledge of tools and building supplies to help with the construction process.
