NYSCAR's president message: Make a donation to the Realtors Relief Foundation

By: Michael Johnson We are all thinking of the victims from Hurricane Sandy and extend our prayers to everyone affected by the storm. For many years, the Realtors Relief Foundation has been dedicated to providing housing-related assistance to victims of disasters. If you would like to help, we encourage you to visit www.realtor.org and make a donation on-line. Keep in mind that 100% of the money you give to the foundation goes to help the victims of this storm; NAR covers all the administrative costs of the fund. Every penny you give goes to those in need. Albany Education & Marketing NYSCAR in cooperation with the Greater Capital Chapter of NYSCAR held a full-day course at the Ramada in Albany entitled, "Primary Economic Principles of the Real Estate Market & Transaction Structuring ...Creating Powerful Transactions that Close." The class held October 24, was instructed by James Wilson, CCIM, SEC from Orlando, Florida. Several of the students noted that "the course put into perspective the various components needed to successfully generate a transaction." The course illustrated how client counseling, the application of creative transaction ideas, where needed, along with the client and property specifics all tied in to result in successful transactions along with specific examples of the technique application. The marketing session held on the following day (Oct. 25) was deemed to also be very successful. Many attendees stated that it was "one of the best, most productive" marketing sessions they have attended. Several members of the NYSCAR Hudson Valley Chapter had attended along with attendees from the new Syracuse NYSCAR Chapter, Long Island Chapter and out of state attendees. Nick DeMarte was the marketing meeting manager and was assisted by Joe Crowley, SEC from California. Capital chapter president Mike DelVecchio opened the meeting and welcomed the attendees. Corey Bishop from Adams, Mass. provided an overview as to the marketing process and Nick DeMarte, Jr. assisted by use of electronically organizing the flow and order of the marketing presentations. Peter Korunkiewich assisted with the registration process for the marketing meeting. Many thanks to program sponsors: Chazen Companies, Kinderhook Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, Gene Sneeinger, Esq. & title company and the firms of Pyramid Brokerage Company and NAI Platform. NAR Convention As I write this column, I am preparing to attend the National Association of Realtors Convention in Florida. I will have an update from the convention in my December column. Annual Conference Please mark the dates of June 4-5, 2013 for the NYS Commercial Real Estate Conference which will be held at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino, Verona. I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! Michael Johnson is the 2012 president of NYSCAR and is a licensed associate real estate broker at Realty USA, Lewiston, N.Y.
