NYS Energy Audits received top honors as Contractor of the Year for its commitment to excellence, consummate professionalism and dedication to providing quality service, and its ability to reach the Russian speaking community. Yuri Polonsky, NYS Energy Audits Project Coordinator, recently accepted the award on behalf of the organization.
"We are honored to receive the EmPower New York Contractor of the Year award and would like to thank the EmPower implementation staff, including Carol Sweeney and Dan Kushnick, as well as the staff at NYSERDA, for their support and efforts to help NYS Energy Audits and all of the other participating contractors," said Yuri Polonsky, Project Coordinator of NYS Energy Audits. "The EmPower New York program is designed to assist low-income New Yorkers and we will continue to work hard to help them lower their energy bills and make their homes more energy efficient."
As a full-service energy solutions company, NYS Energy Audits utilizes a team of energy specialists who use state-of-the-art equipment to perform energy audits throughout the five boroughs. Once areas of concern in the home are identified, specialists recommend effective remedies and options as well as offer customers additional strategies for managing their energy costs.
With more than 100 contractors participating in EmPower New York, staff determines award winners by quality assurance scores, average completion time, work volume and overall commitment to the program. Other contractors who received Outstanding Contractor awards for 2012 are:

EmPower New York services are free to income-eligible households, and anyone eligible for HEAP (earning 60 percent of the state median household income) is eligible for EmPower. Services include high-efficiency lighting and replacement of inefficient refrigerators and freezers with new ENERGY STAR qualified models; heating efficiency services, such as insulation and air sealing; and health and safety testing to ensure the home is properly ventilated and gases are not escaping into the living space.
