NYCREW launches its 12th year with annual holiday event on 12/12/12

NYCREW Network capped a busy year and welcomed the launch of its 12th year with its annual holiday event, held December 12th at the Columbus Club, 8 East 69th St. "And yes, it's lost on no one that the date is 12/12/12," said Karen Dome, NYCREW 2012 president and a senior associate at Marcus & Millichap. "It's been a memorable year for our city, our members, and our chapter," said Dome. "It's only fitting that we hold our holiday event and awards ceremony in a spectacular setting, on the most memorable date of the year!" The cocktail and hors d'oeuvres reception was also the setting of NYCREW's annual Vanguard Awards: The Pioneer Spirit Award, The Avant-Garde Award, The Pinnacle Award, and The Leadership Award. The event comes just a week after the organization exhibited at the International Council of Shopping Centers' New York National Conference, held December 3rd and 4th at the New York Hilton and Towers, and Sheraton New York hotels. The NYCREW booth was at the Hilton, the conferences' headquarters. "We're thrilled that our relationship with ICSC continues to grow and mature," Dome said. "Our exhibit at the National Conference was a great way for our members to become even more knowledgeable about the retail sector, and for ICSC members to learn about the benefits of NYCREW membership. It's been a great partnership, even to one of the major sessions!" NYCREW board member Faith Hope Consolo, chairman of Douglas Elliman's Retail Group, also chairs ICSC's Women's Special Industry Group program, a series of sessions held around the country and internationally to allow industry professionals to learn with and from each other. In conjunction with the conference, Consolo also moderated "Food as Fashion: Redefining Dining," featuring restaurateurs and industry experts on Monday, December 3rd at the Hilton's Mercury Ballroom. "NYCREW has been an important part of Faith's SIG program from the beginning, with our members speaking and leading roundtables from its launch in May 2010," Dome said. "All of this just makes for a memorable December, and a terrific way to launch our 12th year." NYCREW Network, the original New York area chapter of CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women, a national organization of over 8,000 commercial real estate professionals), was founded in 2001 to advance the success of women in commercial real estate through opportunity, influence and power. During the past ten years, NYCREW has provided its members with the skills and opportunities to achieve success in commercial real estate, encouraging doing business together in collaboration rather than competition. Comprised of senior and rising professionals from a broad range of disciplines within the commercial real estate industry, such as: financial services; asset and property management; developers; owners and operators; investment and property brokerage firms; and appraisers, accountants, architects, attorneys and other consultants, NYCREW members are also active in a wide range of industry segments, such as hospitality, industrial, office, retail, mixed use, transportation, etc.

Tri-state capital migrates nationally amid regulation pressure - by Reese Weaver

New York tri-state multifamily investors are increasingly reallocating capital to less-regulated markets across the U.S. as rent control and legislative risk erode returns at home.
