Nordstrom to open 39,000 s/f store at Onex's Shops at SkyView

Seattle-based Nordstrom, Inc. plans to open a Nordstrom Rack at The Shops at SkyView Center. The 39,000 s/f, two-level store is scheduled to open in the fall. The developer for the project is Onex Real Estate Partners. Nordstrom Rack is the off-price retail division of Nordstrom, Inc., offering customers a wide selection of on-trend apparel, accessories and shoes at an everyday savings of 30-70% off regular prices. The Rack carries merchandise from Nordstrom stores and Nordstrom.com and specially-purchased items from many of the top brands sold at Nordstrom. Designed to be fun, fast and easy to shop, The Rack provides the ultimate treasure hunt to style-savvy customers. Nordstrom Rack is set to open its first Brooklyn location on Fulton St. in spring followed by a second location at the Gateway Center in Brooklyn in the fall. When it opens, The Shops at SkyView Center Nordstrom Rack will be the company's first Queens location. "We are excited about the opportunity to be a part of a dynamic retail center within a vibrant neighborhood in the heart of Queens and right off the Long Island Rail Rd.," said Geevy Thomas, president of Nordstrom Rack. "We look forward to opening next fall and bringing our customers the very best of our brands at great prices." Nordstrom Rack will join the 700,000 s/f center which is home to a strong mix of retailers, including Target, Old Navy, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Marshall's, Restoration Hardware and the specialty Asian supermarket Sky Foods among others. "Nordstrom Rack moving to SkyView Center is a transformative step further establishing Queens as a major retail destination attracting shoppers throughout the Greater New York City area," said Michael Dana, president of Onex Real Estate Partners and owner and developer of The Shops at SkyView Center. "We are committed to providing shoppers great fashion at affordable price points and Nordstrom Rack is the perfect addition to our growing mix of retailers."
