Nelson + Pope welcomes Shanmugam to NYC branch office

New York, NY Engineering, architecture and surveying firm Nelson + Pope welcomes Karthi Shanmugam, PE, as a senior associate to their Land Development Department.

Shanmugam will play a pivotal role in project management while heading Nelson + Pope’s NYC branch office. With over 14 years of experience in NYC and over 10 years of international experience, Shanmugam provides extensive knowledge in civil and structural engineering. He has a strong background in agency coordination in NYC and the surrounding areas, construction, design, and all phases of project development. His portfolio of experience includes industrial, health science, retail, special buildings, waterfront, and much more in the entire New York Metropolitan area.

Nelson + Pope looks forward to a larger presence in NYC and the surrounding areas after six decades serving Long Island and the New York metropolitan area. “We’re excited to have Karthi join the team,” said senior partner Tom Dixon, “He brings a strong set of skills in both private and municipal work that will help grow our expertise as a firm.” Shanmugam’s experience has provided him with comprehensive knowledge of NYC agency protocols and procedures that will increase project efficiency for our clients. Additionally, he has filing privileges with NYC Department of Buildings, NYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP), and NYC Transit for filings such as Demolition Plans, NYCDEP Permit and Review Information System and MS-4, Transit Plans, Water Mains, Sewer Main extensions, and proposed drainage with NYCDEP. Along with affiliates Nelson Pope Voorhis and East Coast Geoservices, Nelson + Pope will continue to bring a wide breadth of services to existing and new clients, providing full-service firm value in the NYC area.
