Loring expands Mid-Atlantic presence with opening of offices in PA and MD

Philadelphia, PA & Gaithersburg, MD Loring Consulting Engineers, a leading building systems design and energy consulting firm headquartered in New York, has opened offices in Philadelphia, PA, and Gaithersburg, MD. The new locations expand Loring’s geographic reach through seven offices along the East Coast and in Toronto, Canada, giving the firm a strong local presence for its commercial, healthcare, laboratory, higher education and historic restoration practices.

The new offices will be supported by Loring’s 175-member, multidisciplined team of mechanical and electrical, technology, commissioning and energy professionals. The group has provided engineering for some of the foremost educational, healthcare and cultural institutions, including: Columbia, Princeton and New York universities; Mount Sinai, NY Langone and New York Presbyterian healthcare systems; the National Institutes of Health (NIH); and the Smithsonian Institution.

Loring has a long history in the Philadelphia market, including work for the University of the Arts, University of Pennsylvania, IBM, and various commercial office and retail clients. Currently, the firm is serving as prime consultant on a $100 million mechanical upgrade at the Philadelphia Customs House for the General Services Administration (GSA). Design and construction on the 17-story historic building will be phased over several years to accommodate building occupants.

The Philadelphia office, located at One Liberty Place, will be led by Vincent Farese, PE, principal-in-charge of Loring’s Princeton office, and Randy Cook, PE, who recently joined the firm as vice president.

Loring is branching out from its Washington, DC office to be better positioned to focus on research laboratories, healthcare, higher education and commercial opportunities along the I-270 Technology Corridor, from Bethesda to Frederick and northeast to Baltimore. The new Maryland office, at 9711 Washingtonian Blvd. in Gaithersburg, will be managed by J. Michael Galway, PE, one of two principals in the firm’s Washington, DC office, and vice president Moustapha Diack, PE, who Loring welcomed to the team this summer. Galway will continue to co-lead the DC office with Hallah Abodaff, PE, who will take on an expanded role in the day-to-day management there.

“While Loring has been entrenched across the Mid-Atlantic region for over 50 years, a local presence in these two exciting markets affords us greater immediacy and accessibility in serving our local clients there,” said Oneil Gayle, Loring’s COO.
