On October 23rd, Mojo Stumer won two awards at the ARCHI Awards for the Long Island chapter of the A.I.A. The first award was for the corporate headquarters for Luxottica in Port Washington. The second was for the exciting front entry to the Manhattan office building at 747 3rd Ave.
The corporate headquarters for Luxottica presented us with the opportunity to design a place that represents Luxottica's brand to the world. Luxottica is known as a leader in fashion, luxury and sports eye wear. This project is an interior space of 30,000 s/f of the existing building, as well as, an entire renovation of the façade.
The layout is well thought-out and designed to produce a highly efficient work environment. The lobby entrance is a contemporary design with sleek, clean lines and an inviting feel. Planes of stainless steel, glass walls, neutral colors of dark grey and white with a bold red accent create the space. This red accent is carried through to the new exterior of the building, as a perforated metal panel over aluminum composite panels. The majority of the façade is a curtain wall over 20 feet high, and aluminum composite panels frame the elevation.
The attention to modern details, as well as the needs of the client are what make this project worthy of the ARCHI award.
The front entry of 747 3rd Ave. features a stainless steel screen wall, aluminum wall panels, metal mesh ceiling panels, and crystallized glass slab. The combination of materials, along with a unique design gave an exceptional end result which exceeded the client's needs and caught the eye of the ARCHI awards jury.
Mojo Stumer thanked everyone involved, especially their clients Andrea Dorigo and Vito Giannola of Luxottica Group, and Glenn DiBiase and Jonathan Iger of Sage Realty for 747 3rd Ave.
