A frequent supporter of the arts and children's charities, MKDA helped fund "Urban Design Class," a semester-long Creative Arts Workshop for Kids' (CAW) after school program. MKDA president Michael Kleinberg recently paid a visit to PS 192 (Jacob H. Schiff Elementary School), where the class was in full swing. According to CAW, the program teaches students the higher order fundamentals of urban planning and design. Students observe and dissect a five to ten-block area around their school and then create design projects that enhance the area from their creative viewpoints.
CAW is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that uses visual, performing, and technology arts and design to teach job and developmental skills to underserved youth ages 4 - 21 throughout the following Northern Manhattan Neighborhoods: East Harlem, Central Harlem, Washington Heights, and Inwood.
CAW offers free Saturday and after-school workshops, and full-time summer jobs that empower youth to improve their leadership and creative problem-solving skills, appreciate consequence-based decision-making and build self-confidence and other tools for positive self expression, while deepening the relationship between themselves, art and community to create positive change in their lives.
MKDA is a corporate space planning and interior design firm that was established in 1959 by famed showroom designer Milo Kleinberg. Today, the firm is headquartered in New York City with a second office in Stamford, CT and services corporations across industries, non-profits and government office and commercial building owners.
