MKDA designs new 20,000 s/f global headquarters for Indus

Indus Capital Partners LLC has a new global headquarters designed by corporate interiors firm MKDA. The investment firm, which relocated its headquarters to 20,000 s/f on the 26th floor at Vornado Realty Trust's 888 Seventh Ave., required a branded interior that would strengthen the firm's presence in the New York market and meet a number of key objectives. "Indus required its new global headquarters to comprise aesthetic and functional elements that would provide a comfortable and efficient workplace while also capturing the firm's brand," said MKDA president Michael Kleinberg. "Our team worked in close collaboration with Indus' partners, ensuring that all objectives were met within the schedule and budget constraints." "To honor the firm's corporate brand, we created a clean and neutral backdrop with custom-designed walnut elements, which allows the firm's extensive Asian art and antiques collection to be featured. Further, an assortment of jewel color tones were used throughout the space to create counterpoint to the neutral background," said MKDA director of design Daniel DeSiena. "These elements alongside iconic Central Park views add warmth and excitement to the space. The architecturally clean and minimal space features numerous custom-designed elements such as full-height wood and fabric pivoting doors that open or close the reception area to the elevator lobby. MKDA also custom-designed sconces and the wood and marble reception desk and accent tables. Mustard gold, citrus green and amethyst toned accents provide pops of color to the neutral walls and walnut wood flooring and office furnishings. MKDA fitted the space with a trading desk, linear lighting, and glass private offices and workstations accented with wood. The firm's three boardrooms are named for the major cities where the investment firm holds offices: New York, Tokyo and London. "MKDA designed our new Headquarters to meet our aesthetic and branding requirements while also infusing elements into the space that improve efficiencies as well as employee morale and productivity," said Indus Capital Partners COO Michael Guarasci. "We anticipate thriving within the space for many years to come." Most people think of St. Patrick’s Day as a fun footnote on the calendar. In construction logistics, however, it’s a full-scale operational variable — especially if your work touches major metro areas with major parades and, let’s call it what it is, enthusiastic celebrants.
