Miller of Miller Samuel Inc. addresses Appraisal Institute

Over 60 professional real estate appraisers attended the February 15 event held at the Westbury Manor, hosted by the Long Island Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. The speaker for the evening was Jonathan Miller, president/CEO of Miller Samuel Inc., who addressed the issue of Market Outlook 2012: The Intersection of Housing and Credit. Topics discussed included the Long Island housing market, housing affordability and sales activity, sales, prices and inventory, lenders and regulations, interest rates, and the changing economic climate of the real estate market.

When Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) were first part of commercial real estate risk management, it was the lenders driving this requirement. When a borrower wanted a loan on a property, banks would utilize a list of “Approved Consultants” to order the report on both refinances and purchases.
