Midwood Investment & Development brings Whole Foods to Eastgate Plaza

Garden City, NY According to Midwood Investment & Development, Whole Foods Market has opened a new location at Eastgate Plaza at 867 East Gate Blvd. The 55,000 s/f store is Whole Foods Market’s fifth location on Long Island.

The retailer has signed a 20-year lease with Midwood Investment & Development, the property owner. Leasing at Eastgate Plaza is handled by Midwood and Schuckman Realty.

“Given its proximity to other retail and commercial options, 867 East Gate Boulevard is an ideal location for Whole Foods Market,” said John Usdan, CEO of Midwood. “Located in one of the prime retail corridors, Whole Foods Market Westbury will have terrific visibility for its newest location on Long Island and we are proud to welcome the retailer to Eastgate Plaza.”

Whole Foods Westbury, the second tenant to open in the development, is located across from ‘The Galleria of Westbury Plaza,’ a 330,000 s/f center.

containing several national tenants including Trader Joe’s, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom Rack, Off Fifth Saks, Starbucks and a Shake Shack. A new 2,436 square foot HSBC Bank branch opened earlier this year at the development. Situated on six acres along the Meadowbrook Parkway, Eastgate Plaza is a coveted location in one of the most strategic market places on Long Island.

Whole Foods Westbury features new local suppliers, seasonal coffee program and juice bar. The grocery department features more than 100 local suppliers, many of which are new to Whole Foods Market.

A lease was recently signed with Bond Vet, completing the pad adjacent to Whole Foods Market and bringing the Plaza to 100% occupancy.
