Message from the NYSCAR president: Upcoming deadlines - by Brian DiNardo

I hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family. I wanted to remind members of some upcoming deadlines, education opportunities and code of ethics training.

 Realtor of the Year Nominations due December 15

NYSCAR is accepting applications for Realtor of the Year. The purpose of the award is to recognize an outstanding active member of the New York State Commercial Association of Realtors (NYSCAR) for the year.

If you would like to nominate a NYSCAR member, please submit your nomination to the ROTY Committee, c/o NYSCAR, 130 Washington Ave., Albany, NY 12210. Please submit your nomination by December 15.

Request for Committee Service due December 15

To continue to grow and provide you with the services and benefits you want – we encourage your participation by serving on one or more of the NYSCAR committees. Committee service is easy – “Meetings” can be conducted by teleconference. Help us by getting involved! Code of Ethics and Professional Standards Training

This course, sponsored by the NYS Association of Realtors, is a must for local board/association presidents, directors, executive officers, professional standards administrators and legal counsels, in addition to grievance and professional standards committee members. Any other members interested in learning more about the professional standards process are welcome. The course satisfies NAR’s mandatory ethics training requirement. 

In this course, you’ll:

• Gain a full understanding of the conduct of ethics and arbitration hearings, enforcement procedures and disciplinary guidelines.

• Learn about the mediation process and its benefits.

• Explore the mandatory Ombudsman program and citation options.
