Merritt Engineering Consultants, P.C. was retained by Holy Cross High School on 2620 Francis Lewis Blvd. to conduct a restoration of the school's façades and roofs. The project began in 2009 with the replacement of the gymnasium roof, utilizing a modified bitumen roofing system with liquid applied flashing. Phase II included the restoration of the rear and side façades, which took place in 2009 and 2010.
This year, phase III was underway. During this phase, Merritt designed and specified the restoration of the school's front façade, as well as the replacement of the north and south roofs. New pavers were installed at the second floor level terraces, providing a new functional outdoor space for faculty.
Sensitive to the school's day-to-day operations, Merritt carefully planned each phase to ensure minimal disruption to normal school activities. Phase IV of the project will include the replacement of the main roof in the near future. The construction cost for the project is $311,000.
