LiMandri keynote speaker at BOMA/NY 2008 Annual Conference

New York City Department of Buildings commissioner Robert LiMandri will be the luncheon keynote speaker for the BOMA/NY 2008 Annual Conference and Trade Show being held October 15 at the New York Marriott Marquis. LiMandri will address the BOMA/NY audience, comprised of the city's leading real estate professionals, on issues that have garnered headlines over the past year. He'll focus on these four key areas: * High-Risk Construction Oversight * Special Enforcement: 1-Year Progress Report * The New New York City Construction Codes Enforcement Plan * Strategic Initiatives for 2008-09 Automatic Inspections, increasing transparency of zoning documentation The conference kicks off at 8 a.m. with three morning sessions and includes a break for viewing the table-top exhibitions. Panel topics are: New Construction Codes - The First 100 Days Learn first-hand about the progress of the new NYC code and related enforcement, new owner inspections and certification, and more. New York State officials will provide input on state developments, and our resident experts from BOMA International will add their perspective on BOMA International and ICC changes. LEED Certification: who it works for and who it doesn't. What are the roadblocks? What's next for those who can't pursue LEED? Green Globes and generic systems; how to achieve visibility for your sustainability efforts. The newly-named commissioner will be speaking at the luncheon program, which begins at 12:15 p.m. and concludes at 1:45 p.m., and includes Q&A. A graduate engineer who has spent two decades in the real estate, engineering and construction industries, LiMandri is now at the helm of New York's Building Department, where he is working on many fronts - from strengthening department management and enhancing productivity, to enforcing new construction standards. He has launched an unprecedented "top-to-bottom" analysis of concrete, excavations and crane operations, as well as the department's own oversight processes to determine how the industry can minimize risk and the department can best oversee and regulate these types of construction. He is also implementing the department's 2006 - 2009 Strategic Plan to continue to increase transparency and accountability at all levels.
