Lendlease appoints Lovett as director of urban design

New York, NY According to Lendlease, architect, urbanist and design theorist Ryan Lovett has joined Lendlease as its first director of urban design for the Americas. A cross-functional role, Lovett will work with the firm’s development teams and their third-party architects throughout the Americas region.

“Ryan adds an important new dimension to our internal capabilities with his wide-ranging experience in designing and planning large-scale developments,” said Jason Alderman, president of development for the Americas at Lendlease.

Prior, Lovett was director of urban design and development for NYC-based SHoP Architects, where he led the firm’s global portfolio of urban design and planning projects. He managed the creation of innovative mixed-use development and master plans for a range of large, complex projects, including Rice University’s 16-acre South Main Innovation District in Houston, Tex.; the 8.7 million s/f Schuylkill Yards master plan in Philadelphia; and a six-acre mixed-use innovation hub across from the Cornell Tech campus in Long Island City.

“One of our greatest assets as an integrated development, construction and investment management firm is our ability to bring these disciplines together to maximize the value of our developments and win more work through creative solutions. Adding Ryan’s architectural and planning background to that rich mix will lead to some outstanding results on our current and future initiatives,” said Alderman.

Lovett also contributed to the design of some iconic architecture projects across the world, including the Collins Arch in Melbourne, Australia and 111 W 57th St., one of the world’s most slender residential towers that sits atop a historic landmark overlooking Central Park. Lovett has also held a teaching fellowship at Columbia University and was a member of the Columbia Building Intelligence Project (C-BIP).

Lovett earned a Master of Architecture (M.Arch) and Master of Science in Real Estate Development (MSRED) from the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and the American Institute of Architects.

He joins Lendlease during a significant moment for the integrated property development, construction and investment firm’s Americas business, which has both launched and completed a number of innovative district-scale projects in recent months. In September, Lendlease welcomed residents and the general public to its seven-acre Clippership Wharf district in East Boston. In the same month, Lendlease officially opened Southbank Park, a publicly-accessible two-acre park serving both residents of Lendlease’s Southbank development and the broader South Loop neighborhood. In July, Lendlease unveiled its partnership with Google to develop three new mixed-use neighborhoods in the Silicon Valley towns of Mountain View, Sunnyvale and downtown San Jose.

The death of the generic offering memorandum: What buyers expect in 2025 - by Kimberly Zar Bloorian

There was a time when an offering memorandum (OM) was pretty bare bones, some photos, a few bullet points on income, and a rent roll thrown in at the back. That used to get the job done. Not anymore. In 2025, buyers are sharper, faster, and more selective. They’re looking
