Lavelle of Widewaters Group leases 31,242 s/f at
Urban Edge Properties’ Amherst Commons

June 11, 2024 - Upstate New York

Amherst, NY Urban Edge Properties said that Bob’s Discount Furniture has leased 31,242 s/f at Amherst Commons, taking a portion of a former TJ Maxx store. Located near Buffalo, Amherst Commons is a power center offering wholesale and discount brands as well as fitness services, including Five Below, Pep Boy’s, BJ’s Wholesale and DSW.

Jim Lavelle, Widewaters Group, Inc., represented Bob’s and Urban Edge in the transaction.

“This is an ideal property for Bob’s second location in the Buffalo region as it will be joining other high traffic driving brands like DSW and BJ’s,” said Leigh Lyons, senior vice president of leasing for Urban Edge Properties. “By filling the available space in such a short time, we are able to continue to create a strong draw for the property and offer new reasons for the community to visit.”

This will be Bob’s second store in the Buffalo market.

“Bob’s is excited to expand into the Buffalo market, which is a new territory for us. We will begin serving Buffalo-area customers when we open our first store in the region over the summer, followed shortly after by the opening of our Amherst location in late fall,” said Bob’s division vice president, Scott Bunish. “We selected the Amherst Commons location because it is a vibrant retail corridor with a lot of activity and convenient access for our customers. The Urban Edge owned shopping center is a hub of retail activity in the marketplace and we are pleased to be joining their tenant roster.”

Amherst Commons is centrally located on a four-way shopping corridor in an inner ring suburb of Buffalo, which is home to nearby attractions including the University of Buffalo with more than 31,000 students, and Niagara Falls State Park.
