Landow and Landow serves as developer/architect of $8 million project; Team includes Paragon, Emtec, Avitz, Bohler and Darren

Landow and Landow Architects AIA served as the architect and developer for the new $8 million, 34,000 s/f South West Center for the Suffolk County Department of Social Services (DSS). The new DSS center is located at 2 South Second St. Responding to a County RFP for a build-to-suit facility for the new center, Landow and Landow, working with a private landlord, developed a proposal based upon their design for the building, anticipated development costs, and income and expense projections. The county selected their proposal from among all of the competing submissions. Their design was based upon prefabrication and advanced building technology that allowed construction to continue irrespective of weather conditions and resulted in an abbreviated time frame for project delivery. This, along with an aggressive adherence to the project schedule, allowed the building to be completed on time and without any extra costs. It was delivered to the county on the exact day promised in the Landow and Landow proposal. Landow and Landow selected and coordinated the project development team which, in addition to Landow and Landow, included Paragon Realty (real estate broker), Emtec Engineering (mechanical, electrical, sanitary engineer), Avitz Engineering (structural engineer), Bohler Engineering (civil engineer), and Darren Construction (general contractor). The project was led by Lloyd Landow, AIA, NCARB, principal in charge and Glen Landow, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, principal designer.
