Kipnis joins Zetlin & De Chiara LLP as assoc.

According to Zetlin & De Chiara LLP, a prominent construction law firm, Alexander Kipnis has joined the firm's New York City office. Kipnis is an experienced construction and commercial litigation attorney who joins the firm as an associate from Shearman & Sterling LLP and, prior to that, Stein, Ray & Harris LLP based in Chicago, Ill. Michael De Chiara, co-founding partner of Zetlin & De Chiara LLP, said, "Alex brings to the firm excellent legal experience in the field of construction law. We are excited to have Alex join our talented group of attorneys and provide the insight and advice required and expected by our design professionals and real estate clients." Kipnis has successfully litigated numerous complex matters on behalf of real estate property owners, developers, lenders, design professionals, construction managers and contractors including those involving allegations of delay, design and construction defects, insurance coverage, lender liability and other issues. Additionally, Kipnis has advised clients on issues involving doing business abroad. He has led multiple global internal investigations, and has represented clients in government investigations of their global businesses, involving various laws including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). Kipnis has provided pro bono representation to indigent defendants on felony criminal charges and to nonprofit organizations on a variety of commercial matters and is the recipient of the New York Empire State Counsel award for his pro bono work. He earned his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and received his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. He is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey, Illinois and the federal district and appeals courts.
