New York, NY The American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC New York) presented the 2016 Chairman’s Award to the vice president and chief engineer of MTA Bridges and Tunnels, Joseph Keane, P.E. Keane was recognized for his dedication as a tireless advocate and recognized expert in the design and construction industry of N.Y. The award was presented at the council’s annual spring membership luncheon at the Union League Club on June 8th. Two consulting engineers, Mitchel Simpler, P.E. and Josephine Zurica, P.E., LEED AP, received the Engineer of the Year and the New Principal of the Year awards, respectively, for their contributions to the profession.
Also at the luncheon, ACEC New York inducted a new slate of officers and directors. All officers’ and directors’ terms begin on July 1st.
Mark McAnany, P.E., business segment leader at Bergmann Associates, D.P.C., is the new chair for 2016-17. Outgoing chair Charles Gozdziewski, P.E., principal at Hardesty & Hanover, is now the national director of ACEC New York, serving as liaison between ACEC New York and the ACEC national organization in Washington, D.C.
Bergmann Associates is headquartered in Rochester. McAnany is a firm principal and serves as Bergmann’s manager of transportation. Licensed in six states, he has 33 years of diverse experience in all aspects of transportation related improvements. He has been involved in the planning, design and construction of hundreds of projects across the U.S. with a focus on interstate highways and complex urban street systems in upstate N.Y. His career has been recognized with numerous honors, awards and achievements by professional organizations, peers and clients alike.
