SWBR wins Energetix Excellence in Green Lighting Award from IES

SWBR Architects has been awarded the Energetix Excellence in Green Lighting Award by the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) of North America Rochester Chapter for its work on the R.I.T. College of Applied Science & Technology. SWBR was presented with the award at the Illuminating Engineering Society luncheon earlier this month. "We are truly honored to receive recognition from a company who also strongly believes in the importance of reducing energy consumption through the utilization of Green techniques," said David Beinetti, president of SWBR. "It is with great pride we receive this award, for our part in making Rochester a more environmentally friendly city." The R.I.T. College of Applied Science & Technology is LEED Gold certified. LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, a third-party certification program and the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. The RIT CAST Building is only the second College & University building in the State to earn this level of recognition. The Energetix award was created to recognize those submissions where emphasis is placed on efficiencies towards a better environment. Area engineers, architects, designers and lighting representatives were invited to submit their best projects for presentation in two different categories which were the Harley Hill Excellence in Lighting Category or the Energetix Excellence in Green Lighting Category.
