Brooklyn, NY Haussmann Development has launched leasing at The Eve, a seven-story, mixed-income residential building located at 827 Sterling Pl. in Crown Heights. The development introduces 76 new apartments to one of Brooklyn’s most in-demand neighborhoods, including studios, one- and two-bedroom layouts, and duplex residences.

At a time when the need for quality housing across New York City continues to intensify, The Eve provides a meaningful addition to the local housing supply, while prioritizing design excellence, sustainability, and equitable access. The building includes 23 affordable apartments, made available through a lottery process. The building received over 10,000 applications, reflecting the overwhelming demand for new, thoughtfully built homes.

“Our city faces a housing crisis that necessitates building versions of The Eve in every neighborhood,” said Josef Goodman, principal at Haussmann Development. “We need more housing that is inclusive, sustainable, and designed to strengthen our communities.”

In addition to its affordable component, The Eve was constructed as a fully-electric building, eliminating on-site fossil fuel use and contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable future for the neighborhood. By incorporating high-efficiency electric systems for heating, cooling, water heating, and cooking, the building offers improved indoor air quality and long-term energy performance.

Residents will have amenities, including a rooftop deck with grilling stations, a fitness center, a children’s play area, a club room, on-site garage parking with EV charging stations, and a pet washing station. Each apartment features sleek finishes, in-unit laundry, central air conditioning, and private balconies.

Centrally located, The Eve provides access to local transit options including the 3 train at Nostrand Avenue, the Park Place Franklin Avenue shuttle, and multiple bus lines. The neighborhood offers vibrant local culture, dining, and green space, with destinations like Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Brooklyn Children’s Museum nearby.

“My wife and I want to put down roots in the neighborhood where we were raised, but like many New Yorkers that dream has become unaffordable,” said state senator Zellnor Myrie, who represents the district and is currently running for Mayor of New York City. “We need to build more housing to bring down the cost of living in this city. We need more mixed-income development like The Eve to address this crisis head on.”

“The Eve reflects what we believe the future of housing in New York should look like—mixed-income, community-rooted, and environmentally responsible,” said Goodman. “We’re proud to deliver a building that adds lasting value to Crown Heights and welcomes new and longtime residents alike.”
