Breezehouse model - Copake, NY

The Hudson Valley office of Halstead Property together with Halstead Property Development Marketing launched the sale of 12 lots and a model home in Columbia County at a new development with Blu Homes. The homebuilder, Blu Homes, is a leading designer and manufacturer of architect-designed, green, precision-built homes that decrease energy and water usage.
This is the first Blu Homes development in NYS, and consists of 12 home sites ranging from 6.8 to 24 acres overlooking the Hudson River Valley and the Catskills.
The Blu Homes' Breezehouse model is a one-story, 2,420 s/f, three-bedroom, three-bathroom home with a fireplace, a two-car garage and a wrap-around deck situated on 24 acres.
"We are very pleased to launch sales at this truly unique development. Buyers will have the best of both worlds: a modern, green home with a host of luxurious finishes in a setting that is truly spectacular," said Stephen Kliegerman, president of Halstead. "As an added benefit with Blu Homes, buyers will know that they are building a high performance home on the cutting edge of building technology and energy efficiency."
Blu's homes are built by skilled craftsmen in the company's 250,000 s/f factory in Vallejo, Calif. Blu's proprietary building science technology allows its homes to be folded for quick and cost-effective transportation and setting on site. Once complete, the homes are installed on-site in one to two days and completed in as little as two weeks by Blu's teams of craftsmen. Buyers can choose from Blu's eight beautiful, green home designs.
The development's model residence, the iconic, was "unfolded" on October 10 and 11 in a fascinating installation. The Breezehouse design offers an elegant and harmonious connection between beautiful indoor living and the natural world. The home will be available for tours later this fall.
Local developer Neil Costa worked with conservancy groups and Blu Homes to sustainably develop the project on land that offers privacy, wooded areas, streams, ponds and lovely vistas.
"It has been a delight to work with a thoughtful landowner like Neil Costa to design the beautiful model Breezehouse, as well as devise plans for each of the other eleven lots to take full advantage of the land and views," said Maura McCarthy, Blu Homes vice president of strategic development. "New York City buyers have been clamoring to see these homesites and find the perfect place to build their Blu home since the minute we announced this project. We are so excited that they will soon be able to tour the finished model and purchase their own Blu home."
For the Breezehouse, a team of leading architects has combined warm eco-friendly materials, clean lines, 14-foot ceilings, a gourmet kitchen, and thoughtful storage systems to create a delightful, spacious indoor environment. Homebuyers can personalize their home by selecting finishes and features, such as Ceasarstone countertops, Kohler fixtures, and stainless steel KitchenAid or Sub-Zero appliances.
Beyond the standard green features that Blu includes in every home, such as recycled steel framing, radiant heat flooring, high R-value walls and energy-efficient appliances, Blu homes can achieve Net Zero energy status with the inclusion of other available green elements. All Blu homes are certifiable under the LEED and Energy Star rating systems. Additionally, the unique design of the butterfly roof provides healthy ventilation and an opportunity for solar panel installation, and has also been engineered to withstand significant snow and wind loads.
"Blu's spacious, light-filled homes are exactly what I've always dreamed of building on this land," said Neil Costa. "I am thrilled that our buyers will have the opportunity to own homes that blend harmoniously with the natural beauty of the property while reducing their carbon footprint."
Two hours north of New York City, Copake is in Columbia County and borders Taconic State Park, which is known for its recreational activities including camping, hiking, bicycling, hunting and cross country-skiing. Residents of this area enjoy gourmet restaurants, fashionable shops and boutiques, vineyards, and well-known cultural establishments such as the Hudson Opera House and Stair Galleries.

The development's lots and model home are being exclusively marketed and sold in a joint venture between Halstead Property Hudson Valley and Halstead Property Development Marketing.
