Greater New York IREM Chapter unveils 2015 award winners

According to Paul Gottsegen, CPM and president of the Greater New York Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), the organization unveiled its 2015 award winners. Honorees include Real Estate Person of the Year David Von Spreckelsen, division president, Toll Brothers, Inc.; Certified Property Manager of the Year Elizabeth Majkowski, CPM, senior vice president, operations, SL Green Realty Corp.; Accredited Management Organization of the Year NAI Long Island; and Industry Partner of the Year Gary Alexander, Belfor Property Restoration.
Gottsegen said, "David & Elizabeth exemplify all that the Institute of Real Estate Management stands for-excellence in all real estate operations; dedication to ethical business practices and a belief in the critical role that education plays in insuring that a career in real estate asset and property management is a viable and respected professional career path."
Von Spreckelsen, a division president with Toll Brothersp, started the Toll Brothers City Living office in New York City in 2004. He oversees Toll's acquisition and development activities in the five boroughs of New York City and Nassau and Suffolk Counties in Long Island. His responsibilities include everything from identifying and acquiring sites through managing the design and construction of the buildings and ultimately to marketing and selling the residences. He is currently overseeing seven Toll Brothers City Living projects in various stages of development in Manhattan and Brooklyn. In addition to projects that have already been completed, this totals to 2,000 condominium units and $1.5 billion in total development cost since 2004. Recently, at Pier 1 in Brooklyn Bridge Park, Toll Brothers began construction of a condominium project and the first hotel in Toll Brothers' history.
Majkowski has over 30 years of property management and real estate financial experience in New York City. She has been with SL Green for eight years and her current responsibilities include operational oversight of the Manhattan office, residential and retail portfolio totaling over 25 million s/f with annual operating expense budgets of $309 million and 2014 capital budgets of $284 million as well as supervision of a corporate staff of 75 and 1,100 in-house engineering and cleaning personnel. Throughout 2013, she supported the evaluation of the operational expenses, maintenance programs and capital improvements required by Citigroup to consider extending their lease at 388-390 Greenwich St. The due diligence was successfully concluded in December 2013, when Citigroup Inc. (Citi) signed an agreement extending Citi's triple-net leases covering 2.6 million s/f through December 31, 2035. In 2012, she assisted in the due diligence and capital evaluation that led to the Viacom's renewal of 1.4 million s/f at 1515 Broadway extending and expanding the company's occupancy at the iconic Times Sq. tower through 2031. She earned the Certified Property Manager designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management in April 1998.
Frank Socci Jr., CPM and director of management of NAI Long Island, will accept the award on behalf of the company. Alexander will accept the award on behalf of Belfor Property Restoration.
Special recognition awards will be presented at IREM's Annual Dinner on Thursday, January 22nd at the Water's Edge in Long Island City. The evening's sponsors are American Pipe & Tank Lining Co., Inc.; CSI Construction & Security Installations & Durnan Group Managers.
