Gorman, III joins Harris Beach as senior counsel; Focusing on development, acquisitions, dispositions, financing and leasing

Noted real estate attorney Francis Gorman, III of Irondequoit has joined the law firm Harris Beach PLLC as senior counsel. He practices in the firm's commercial real estate and the public finance and economic development practice groups and serves on the real estate developers industry team. Prior to joining Harris Beach, Gorman was with Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC. He previously served as director of legal for litigation and operations for Wilmorite and as director of acquisition and development for the Widewaters Group. Gorman's experience focuses on development, acquisitions, dispositions, financing, leasing and litigation, including real estate valuation disputes. He represents developers and landowners in the acquisition and disposition of commercial properties, equity fund formations, tax assessment and valuation matters and issuance of substantive non-consolidation opinions in connection with commercial mortgaged backed securitizations. Gorman also advises lenders, landlords and borrowers on issues relating to bankruptcy, creditors' rights, work-outs, foreclosures, debt purchases and guaranty litigation. He is qualified by the chief judge, office of court administration to act as a commercial real estate receiver and receiver's counsel. Gorman is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and its economic issues committee and past chair of the New York State Government Relations committee, the New York State business council and its financial services committee, and the New York State Tax Assessors' Association. He has published and made presentations on a number of issues including commercial real estate lending under Dodd-Frank and Basel III, CMBS non-recourse loan guaranties and tax assessments and property valuations. As a member of the New York Army National Guard JAG Corps, in 2004 Mr. Gorman acted as legal counsel to the Joint Military Command for the Republican National Convention. Mr. Gorman received his JD from Syracuse University College of Law and his BA from Georgetown University.
