The program was moderated by Greg David, director of the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism and author of Modern New York: The Life and Economics of a City. He was joined by panelists John Gunther-Mohr, senior VP at Sovereign Bank/Santander, Rosemary Scanlon, dean of the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate and Philip Wharton, senior VP, Development, U.S. Commercial Operations at Brookfield Office Properties.
Panelists discussed the transition of New York City's development boom from housing to mega infrastructure projects including the Hudson Yard development, East Side Access, the East River Greenway and the proposed East Midtown Rezoning. Other highlights from the event included an in-depth examination of these projects and their potential impacts on construction costs.
as well as insights on the ultimate economic advantages these projects will provide to the neighborhoods surrounding them and NYC's economy in general.
The event was attended by NYC construction industry's top developers, owners and managers.
The GNYCUC has been established to promote awareness, cost effectiveness and safety in local construction, to encourage quality programs and a higher level of professionalism in project management for its members. In addition, the GNYCUC seeks to provide a forum to discuss legislation that affects the construction industry and to share ideas so users can be most effective in promoting efficient construction.
