Gersten Savage LLP, one of New York's top five independent law firms, has renewed its 10-year lease for 19,616 s/f at 600 Lexington Ave. and is completing approximately $1 million in capital improvements. As part of the renovation, the firm is adding several new works to its modern art collection.
Working with architectural firm MDKA, Gersten Savage, which has over 50 employees, has reconfigured its space over the firm's two floors to provide greater functionality. In addition to new workstations, lighting and furniture, the firm has upgraded computer systems and installed wireless technology. Gersten Savage, which specializes in securities regulation, general corporate law and finance, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year as an independent firm.
"With the decision to remain in our current space, we felt the timing was right to undertake a significant renovation," said Jay Kaplowitz, the firm's managing partner. "Enhancing our offices has also provided another way to mark the milestone of our 30th anniversary."
To complement the renovation, the firm is augmenting its collection of more than 50 works by modern American artists including Roy Lichtenstein, Ed Baynard, John Newman, Louisa Chase and Alexis Rockman. Several new works by artists Alfred Jensen, Tim Rollins and K.O.S., and William Brice will be added to the collection. Works are displayed in Gersten's offices on a rotating basis, and are loaned to local galleries and other venues for exhibit.
