Galin and D. Handler of Handler Real Estate Organization complete 2,200 s/f lease for AAichiban Sushi Restaurant

Handler Real Estate Organization has arranged a long-term retail transaction on behalf of the landlord at 213 West 28th St., with AAichiban Sushi Japanese Restaurant leasing 2,200 s/f on the ground floor. With dine-in, delivery, and take out options, AAichiban offers a classic spread of traditional Japanese meal selections, fusion-style entrees, and a wide range of choices including sushi, noodles, sake, and desserts. The eatery relocated from 232 Seventh Ave., and began operating out of its new space in March. "AAichiban was already well-known in Chelsea and wanted to continue to serve their loyal clientele," said Scott Galin, principal of Handler Real Estate, who along with colleague Darrel Handler represented the landlord in the transaction. "The restaurant's move to the new location allows it to remain prominent in the area as well as adopt a fresh look." Robert Frischman, of JDF Realty, also represented the landlord, 213 West 28th Associates, LLC, in the transaction. Marilynne Wu, of Oxford Realty Group, represented the tenant. Built in 1901, 213 West 28th Street is a five story mixed-use building in the heart of Chelsea between Seventh and Eighth Avenues. The building offers convenient access to various subway and bus lines, as well as Penn Station. The AAichiban relocation follows Handler's recent signing of premium, London-based sushi and bento chain Wasabi to a 3,400 s/f lease at 561 Seventh Ave. The flagship space—Wasabi's first U.S. branch—is expected to open in the third quarter.
