Fox Rothschild LLP welcomes a team of eight attorneys from Day Pitney LLP.
Robert Klausner, Deirdre Moore and Christopher Rider - all noted by Chambers USA as leading real estate attorneys in New Jersey - have joined Fox as partners. Grace Shin and Mat Carlson have also joined as partners, and as associates, Jennifer Solberg, Joshua Franklin and Corey Kaplan. This group boosts the firm's real estate practice, which has an expansive footprint.
In addition, the team will spearhead the opening of a Fox office in Morristown, NJ, in the summer of 2013. Currently ranked #6 among New Jersey law firms by the New Jersey Law Journal, Fox has three offices in the state with more than 150 attorneys.

With more than 25 years of both legal and business experience in the real estate industry, Klausner possesses in-depth insight and hands-on knowledge of leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, joint venture structuring, financing and build-to-suit, spec and urban development. Klausner also spent several years immersed in the business side of real estate, acquiring and developing properties in urban areas, and that experience gives him a solid client-centric perspective.
Throughout his career, which started at Shearman & Sterling in 1986, Klausner has represented clients in the leasing of more than 15 million square feet of office, industrial and retail space; the purchase and sale of more than $4 billion of office, industrial and retail properties; and the borrowing and lending of more than $2 billion of office, industrial and retail properties. He has represented clients that have won four out of the last 10 NAIOP (the commercial real estate development association) deal of the year designation.
Included in a list of New Jersey Super Lawyers in the area of real estate (2009-2012) as well as The Best Lawyers in America in Real Estate Law (2013), Klausner earned an LL.M. in Tax in 1986 from New York University School of Law, his J.D. from George Washington University Law School in 1985 and his B.A. from Emory University in 1982.
Moore serves as a trusted adviser to a range of both commercial and residential developers and investors, handling matters related to the acquisition, sale, leasing, management and financing of commercial, retail, mixed-use development and redevelopment projects, as well as industrial and golf course projects. She represents clients in the full scope of commercial real estate transactions, including documentation and negotiation of redevelopment agreements with redevelopment authorities, negotiating golf course operations and management agreements, and assisting title companies in connection with title claims and litigation.
Moore has been involved in significant real estate transactions for major companies in the pharmaceutical, electronics and telecommunications industries as well as on behalf of real estate developers and golf courses. She is included in a list of New Jersey Super Lawyers in the area of real estate (2006-2012), a list of "Top 50 Female New Jersey Super Lawyers" (2009 and 2012) and a list of The Best Lawyers in America in Real Estate Law (2007 to 2013). Rated AV® by Martindale-Hubbell, Moore earned her J.D. in 1989 from Rutgers University School of Law, Newark, and her B.S., magna cum laude, from Montclair State University in 1986.
Rider represents a broad range of clients, including owners, developers and financial institutions. He has extensive experience in acquisitions and sales, commercial mortgage, mezzanine and construction financings, debt restructurings, joint ventures, development and construction projects, and commercial leasing. Additionally, he advises clients with respect to the reorganization of real property holdings.
Rider earned his J.D. with high honors from Rutgers University School of Law, Newark, in 1999 and his B.S. with high honors from Rutgers College in 1993. Prior to his practice of law, he was a certified public accountant (license currently in inactive status) with Coopers & Lybrand.
Shin handles a range of commercial real estate transactional matters, particularly those related to leasing and sales and acquisitions. She represents both landlords and tenants in all aspects of commercial leasing for office, retail and industrial use. She also counsels corporate entities and individuals, including developers, in connection with the purchase and sale of commercial real estate.
Shin earned her J.D. in 1994 from George Washington University Law School and her B.A. in 1989 from Wellesley College.
Carlson represents clients in commercial real estate transactions involving acquisitions, dispositions, financings, commercial leasing (office, industrial and retail) and real estate joint ventures. He also handles matters related to financial services and assists borrowers and lenders in mortgage and construction lending transactions.
A former capital markets attorney at Shearman & Sterling prior to his shift to real estate law, Carlson has extensive experience representing underwriters in a variety of transactions, including the IPOs of Silicon Valley technology companies. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, in 1997 from the University of San Francisco School of Law and his B.S. in 1986 from Syracuse University.
Solberg handles a range of commercial real estate matters including the acquisition, disposition, financing and leasing of office, multi-family, retail, industrial and development properties. She has represented institutional real estate investors such as life insurance companies, pension fund advisors and asset managers in the acquisition and disposition of commercial real estate throughout the United States. She has also represented lenders in the acquisition and resale of underperforming commercial properties throughout New Jersey by deed in lieu of foreclosure. Additionally, she has experience assisting real estate developers with the acquisition of development properties and counseling lenders and borrowers in the origination, workout and amendment of commercial real estate mortgage loans.
Solberg earned her J.D., cum laude, in 2005 from the University of Connecticut School of Law and her B.S., summa cum laude, from Boston University in 2002.
Franklin, a LEED accredited professional, represents clients in the acquisition, disposition, leasing, financing and development of commercial and residential properties. He also advises on redevelopment projects and compliance with land use statutes, and counsels on government incentive programs such as the New Jersey Renewable Energy Program and the NJDOT Transit Village Initiative.
A former law clerk for the Honorable Dickinson R. Debevoise of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, Franklin earned his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law, Newark, in 2005 and his B.A., cum laude, in 2000 from James Madison University.
Kaplan represents clients in commercial real estate, zoning and land use matters. He served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Douglas M. Cavanaugh of the U.S. Court for the District of New Jersey. He earned his J.D. from William & Mary Law School in 2010 and his B.A. from Cornell University in 2007.
