Forth releases “Charge at Home” - EV access initiative for multifamily housing

New York, NY Forth has launched “Charge at Home”, an initiative designed to increase access to electric vehicle (EV) charging at multifamily properties nationwide. “Charge at Home” provides residential property stakeholders with the resources and expertise needed to prepare for the future of transportation.

The website offers free tools, resources and technical support to assist multifamily housing decision-makers and residents in making their new and existing properties EV-ready.

“Charge at Home” is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Vehicle Technologies Office and managed by Forth, a non-profit organization dedicated to the equitable advancement of clean transportation. Approximately 80 million Americans live in multifamily housing, which includes apartments and condominiums, yet access to EV charging remains a significant barrier for these communities. “Charge at Home” facilitates EV adoption in multifamily housing by:

•Offering comprehensive EV charging toolkits to simplify installation planning.

• Providing education and advocacy tools for residents to request EV charging at their properties.

• Delivering EV education and resources to raise awareness of EV technology.

• Extending technical assistance and support to multifamily stakeholders in underserved communities.

“Access to EV charging should be a basic part of the transition to clean transportation for everyone, no matter where they live," said Jeff Allen, executive director at Forth. “Charge at Home is about removing barriers and empowering multifamily housing residents and property managers with the tools and expertise they need to make EV charging accessible, convenient, and affordable.”

This initiative is made possible through the collaboration of key partners, including Energetics, Electrification Coalition, CALSTART, GRID Alternatives, National Multifamily Housing Council, Clean Cities Coalitions in New York, Indiana, Michigan, Virginia and Oregon and, The Community Climate Collaborative.
