Ferro, Kuba, Mangano, Sklyar, PC, the Hauppauge-based law firm known for its marketing to Hispanics, has opened a storefront office in the heart of one of Long Island's largest Hispanic communities, Brentwood, in western Suffolk County.
The firm, which markets itself as 1-800-CANTASO, opened the full-service law office in an end-cap unit that measures 1,200 s/f in the Brent City Marketplace.
The center, managed by Smithtown-based Island Associates Real Estate Inc., draws 27,000 vehicles daily.
Ferro, Kuba's neighbors in the center include La Espiguita Soccer Academy; Compare Foods Supermarket; La Espiguita Bakery, one of the best-known Colombian bakeries on Long Island; Rite Aid; a Checkers restaurant and the Suffolk County Brentwood Family Health Center. More than 289,000 people live within a 5-mile radius of the center.
The center, at the corner of Brentwood Rd. and 2nd Ave., and a block away from the Long Island Railroad's Brentwood Station, is an ideal location for the firm, said William Ferro, a partner in the law firm. Brentwood's population was 53% Hispanic, according to 2000 U.S. Census figure. He said 70% of his firm's personal injury clients are Hispanic.
Ambassador Dagoberto Alcides Torres of the El Salvadorian Consulate cut the ribbon to mark the office opening.
The new office, called the 1-800-CANTASO Brentwood Law Center, features a reception area, a conference room and two offices. It will be staffed full time by Antonia LoBello, a former Bronx assistant district attorney, and one paralegal. The space will serve as a prototype for additional storefront offices that the firm may open in the future.
