Famularo of Eastern Consolidated arranges 1,400 s/f lease for Zuber & Company

Eastern Consolidated has arranged a 1,500 s/f lease at 4 West 19th St. in the Flatiron District for Zuber & Company, the wallpaper and fabric firm that Jackie Kennedy used when she renovated the White House. Zuber & Company is relocating its New York City flagship store because the building housing it at 200 E. 59th St. is being razed as part of a development assemblage. James Famularo, senior director of the retail leasing division for Eastern Consolidated, exclusively represented the owner, and Michael Azarian, of Cushman & Wakefield, represented Zuber. "With showrooms in Paris, London, New York, Dubai, Nice, and Moscow, Zuber is the crème de la crème of home decorating," Famularo said. "This space at 4 West 19th St. is a perfect fit because it's centrally located and in the heart of New York City's furniture district." Famularo said he had multiple offers for the ground floor retail space which features 17-foot high ceilings and is located at the base of a 12-story landmarked residential building just off of Fifth Ave. This area of the Flatiron District is coveted by Triple A national retail tenants because of its central location, great foot traffic, and expansive variety of retail, restaurants, and neighborhood attractions. The property is conveniently located near the No. 4, 5, 6, L, N, Q, and R subway lines at the 14th St. Union Square Subway Station. Neighboring tenants include Bed Bath & Beyond and Lillian August home furnishings and interior design, among others. The Zuber factory in Rixheim, France, still hand prints its wallpapers, fabrics, and leathers using antique and traditional woodblocks, of which 150,000 were carved by workers between 1797 and 1870.
