Eastern Consolidated launches new retail division

Eastern Consolidated has expanded its roster of client services by launching a new retail leasing division. The new department, which specializes in both tenant and landlord representation, will complement its thriving retail investment sales division, giving clients access to premier retail listings for stores, bars, lounges, and restaurants throughout the five boroughs. The new retail division is comprised of a team of agents who have decades of combined experience and a proven track record of transactions that range from the launch of emerging brands to the expansion of national chains. Members of the new retail division have already completed leases on behalf of Eastern Consolidated for some of the city's hottest restaurants and clubs, including 1Oak Meatpacking at 453 West 17th St., Goldbar at 389 Broome St., and Market in Chelsea, located at 676 Sixth Ave. "The retail market, particularly luxury retail, is one of the strongest sectors in N.Y.C., and there are natural synergies between sales and leasing. We felt it was the right time to expand our scope of services," said Daun Paris, president of Eastern Consolidated. "Our clients know they can turn to Eastern Consolidated for unsurpassed customized service, up-to-the-minute market intelligence, and comprehensive strategic data. We are excited about offering this high level of representation to our growing base of retail tenants and landlords." The newly hired brokers are all retail industry insiders who bring a wide range of experience, business contacts and existing client relationships to the new retail division: James Famularo, senior director at Eastern Consolidated, is considered one of the top deal makers in New York City real estate and is described by real estate insiders as the top commercial restaurant broker in the city. Prior to Eastern Consolidated, Famularo was Senior Executive Managing Director at New York Commercial Real Estate Services, where he won the Highest Grossing Award for five years. Senior director Alexander Hill has completed transactions totaling more than 300,000 s/f of retail space, negotiating on behalf of landlords and tenants. In the last three years he has closed more deals on 7th Ave. than any other retail broker, and in 2012 he was able to complete a total of seven deals on 7th Avenue. His clients include the Related Companies, Atlantic Development, the Red Apple Group, and others. Previously, Hill was affiliated with Winick Realty Group. He was recognized as one of New York's Power Brokers by the CoStar Group and was chosen as one of the Commercial Observer's "30 Under 30." Jeff Geoghegan is an associate director of retail leasing, representing landlords and retailers throughout the New York Metro Area. He brings more than 20 years of sales and business experience to the team. Prior to joining Eastern Consolidated he worked as a stock broker at Greenway Capital and as a proprietary equities trader at Andover Securities. Ravi Idnani is an associate director of retail leasing, specializing in both tenant and landlord representation. He has completed many transactions on behalf of both national and local tenants throughout New York City. He has represented Lululemon, Pamela Gonzalez, Aksel Group, Forcella Eatery, among others. Prior to Eastern Consolidated, Idnani was at New York Commercial Real Estate Services.

New York tri-state multifamily investors are increasingly reallocating capital to less-regulated markets across the U.S. as rent control and legislative risk erode returns at home.
