Manhattan, NY E4H Environments for Health Architecture has received the “Project of the Year Award - Under $50 million” from the Association of Medical Facility Professionals (AMFP) for its renovation of the Mount Sinai Hospital Emergency Department. The accolade celebrates E4H’s exceptional expertise and contributions in the field of medical facility design.
E4H’s renovation, which will modernize the New York City hospital’s 30-year-old facility, began in 2020 and is slated for completion in 2024. The first phase of the five-year project created a 7,500 s/f rapid medical evaluation unit to identify and treat lower acuity patients, allowing the acute unit to focus on sicker patients. Additional phases will involve consolidating administrative spaces to create more space for patient treatment and expanding and upgrading equipment in existing CT/X-ray rooms. E4H also upgraded and expanded treatment areas within the pediatric emergency department, allowing Mount Sinai to better serve its growing population of patients. The additions will allow the emergency department to serve twice as many patients and provide an improved care experience for the 100,000 people that visit each year.
The award, presented to the project team at AMFP NYC’s 2023 Awards Gala Dinner, highlights an outstanding project completed in the New York City metro region within the last three years. AMFP commended E4H for its outstanding achievement in healthcare design and its unwavering commitment to elevating patient care standards. The “Project of the Year Award - Under $50 million” stands as a tribute to E4H’s creativity, ingenuity, and remarkable ability to bring visionary designs to life.
“We are honored to see E4H, our entire project team, and the Mount Sinai Hospital Emergency Department receive recognition for its tremendous effort in providing accessible healthcare for all,” said Jason Lee, LSSGB, principal. “We are proud to have played a role in creating a facility that will positively impact countless lives through a design that accounts for a growing population.”
