E-J Electric completes work at JKF animal terminal

New York, NY E-J Electric Installation Co. completes the base building infrastructure for John F. Kennedy International Airport’s (JFK) new pet, livestock and zoo animal terminal called “The ARK.”

The scope of work provided by the E-J Electric team includes 5KV primary service, the installation of 3,000-amp distribution service and panels, the building-wide fire alarm system and site lighting throughout.

This terminal totals 178,000 s/f. For the ultimate comfort and security of the animals, it is equipped with customized departure lounges, around-the-clock medical care, spa pampering and high-end electronics. The ARK will also provide transportation in dedicated climate-controlled vehicles to and from aircraft, terminals, cargo facilities and other airport locations.

E-J Electric’s Airport Experience

E-J Electric’s well-known airport experience and reputation has landed them this comprehensive multi-purpose animal handling and air cargo facility at JFK. E-J Electric has previously completed the office and warehouse facilities for Air France, KLM Cargo, Alitalia and Icelandair Cargo.

“We do a lot of work with airports, but this is a really exciting and one of a kind project,” said E-J Electric’s Anthony Mann. “Not only because it is the world’s first luxury animal terminal, but because The ARK will service exotic animals and pets of all shapes and sizes. We’re glad be part of ensuring the safety and comfort of animals and humans alike.”
