Dominque Ansel leases 2,000 s/f retail space at 64 University Place

Manhattan, NY Dominique Ansel signed a 15-year lease for the grade level retail space at 64 University Place, a new condominium being developed by Argo Real Estate and Bsafal, Inc. It will be the James Beard Award-winner’s first foray into Greenwich Village. The pastry chef is recognized for his Cronut pastry mashup, as well as the Cookie Shot and Cannelé de Bordeaux.

“Dominique Ansel is an excellent retail tenant for 64 University Place and a great addition to the neighborhood,” said Mark Moskowitz, president and CEO of Argo Real Estate. “The brand has both a brick-and-mortar following and an extensive online delivery operation, so it has universal appeal.”

The 2,000 s/f bakery and cafe will anchor the KPF-designed development.

Ameesh Argawal, president, Bsafal said, “We are delighted that Dominique Ansel chose 64 University Place for its newest location. It is amazing to have a development project of this stature come together so quickly on so many levels, with enthusiastic buyers and now an acclaimed pastry chef!”

Representing the sponsors on the lease was Jason Wecker of Newmark.
