CSI Rochester recognizes industry excellence with 2016 project awards; Schuster of SWBR honored with the Starlight Award

Rochester, NY Construction Specifications Institute’s (CSI) Rochester Chapter awarded area companies for their work at the Strathallan on April 23.

“The participation of this year’s event surpassed expectation,” said CSI Rochester president Ken Christiano. “The level of excellence in the projects considered made the judges’ jobs extremely difficult. The 2016 Award winners should be proud of their achievements.”

The winners of the 2016 Project Awards were:

The Rochester Award recognizes exceptional teamwork between owner, designer and constructor on a project.

• Project: Crothers Science and Nursing Center

• Project Owner: Roberts Wesleyan College

• Designer: SWBR Architects

• Constructors: LeChase Construction Services, LLC

The Flower City Award recognizes exceptional teamwork between owner, designer and constructor for the successful outcome of a Historic Renovation/Restoration project.

• Project: Bivona Child Advocacy Center Offices

• Project Owner: Bivona Child Advocacy Center

• Designer: NH Architecture

• Constructors: C.P. Kelly & Associates

The Genesee Award recognizes excellence in construction management through teamwork between owner, designer and constructor.

• Project: Noyes Health for the Mary Saunders Beiermann Emergency Department

• Project Owner: University of Rochester

• Designer: Gardner PLUS Architects PLLC

• Constructors: The Pike Co.

The Trusted Advisor Award recognized an individual who exemplifies the role of trusted advisor for providing accurate and appropriate information to meet the needs of their clients at each phase of the project cycle.

Winner: Mike Baker of Weckesser Brick

The Ontario Award recognizes companies with a strong commitment to providing the area construction community with the right information, material and service.

Winner: B&L Wholesale Supply

The President’s Award recognizes an individual’s unselfish service and dedicated devotion which inspires faith in our future with their energy, significance and leadership.

Winners: Paige Holenbeck of Cannan, Alexander & Scott and Erin Shannon of LECESSE Construction.

The Founders Award recognizes an individual’s extraordinary passion for the Chapter, their profession, and our industry through their long-term commitment.

Winner: Stewart Axelrod of Rochester Colonial Manufactures

The Starlight Award recognizes an emerging professional with extraordinary passion for the Chapter, their profession, and our industry.

Winner:  Kristin Schuster of SWBR Architects

The Rochester Chapter CSI Awards Program has a long-standing tradition of recognizing talent, achievements, and notable contributions to the construction industry that support the mission of CSI. Each year CSI recognizes those who have supported its mission and goals by furthering the advancement of the process of creating and sustaining the built environment for the benefit of the construction community.

Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) is a national association of more than 13,000 volunteers who represent all sectors of the construction industry. CSI’s mission is to advance building information management and education of project teams to improve facility performance.
