Flushing, NY National award-winning manufacturer Crystal Window & Door Systems achieved another recognition of its success as the company made a significant move up in a business ranking of New York City area minority-owned firms. In its March 14th edition, noted publication Crain’s New York Business ranked Crystal Windows 10th on its list of the New York area’s largest minority-owned companies. Others on the list this year include Goya Foods, Palladium Equity Partners and Bartlett Dairy.

This year Crystal advanced five positions on the list, moving from 15th rank in the most recent list Crain’s prepared in 2014 to 10th in 2016.  Crystal has moved up in the ranking slowly but steadily since it first was included on the Crain’s list in 1998.  This year’s ranking represents Crystal’s highest achievement to date.

The Crain’s list is comprised of the largest privately held firms that are at least 51% minority-owned and headquartered in New York City or in seven surrounding New York and New Jersey counties.  The ranking is based on annual company revenues from the prior year. Before 2014, the list included 25 top minority companies.  This year the list includes the top 15 firms.

“I’m proud that Crystal’s sustained growth and success continue to be recognized by the New York business community,” said Steve Chen, Crystal’s COO.  “This recognition is even more notable when you consider that the greater New York metro area comprises perhaps 15 million diverse people and tens of thousands of minority-owned companies.  We owe it all to our dedicated workforce, our loyal trade customers and the appeal of our energy efficient made-in-America fenestration products.”

Crain’s, the region’s premier weekly business magazine published in print and online, also produces a TV business show featuring notable New York entrepreneurs and their stories.  Crystal Windows and both its CEO Thomas Chen and COO Steve Chen have been featured or included in the magazine’s articles, recognitions and TV show many times in the past.  Most recently Steve Chen was recognized as one of Crain’s 2016 Top 40 Under 40 Young Business Executives, and Thomas Chen and Crystal’s American success story was featured on Crain’s NY Stories TV show last fall.
