Colliers promotes Thomas to managing director

New York, NY Colliers International Group Inc. has promoted Michael Thomas from director to managing director. Since joining Colliers in 2005, Michael Thomas has completed major office transactions for both tenants and landlords throughout the tri-state region. He focuses on tenant representation for TAMI companies along with select landlord agency assignments in the New York metropolitan area.

Among his accomplishments, Michael and his team arranged a 50,000 s/f lease with Polo Ralph Lauren on behalf of Thor Equities at 25 West 39th St.; he has also completed deals with Ford Models, Elite Models, and The Institute for Family Health. Early in his career, he was part of a team representing some of the largest landlords in the city including Savanna, Kushner, Thor Equities, Walter & Samuels and the Williams Real Estate Portfolio. Michael has arranged Manhattan headquarters deals for M&C Saatchi, Guardian News & Media and Graze (a.k.a. Nature Delivered).

He completed the rebranding of the Fine Arts Building at 232 East 59th St. which has become a destination location for some of the most prestigious decorators and designers across the globe. With 30,000 s/f of new transactions, recent tenants like Bunny Williams, Chinese Porcelain Co, Gerald Bland, and Julius Lowy have helped to solidify the building as a staple of the 59th St. design corridor.

“Michael is an intuitive dealmaker, respected professional, and a strong asset to our commercial brokerage team,” said Kim Brennan, COO for Colliers International’s Tri-State Region. “He has honed a holistic approach in developing customized solutions for prestigious tenants and is actively helping our team to train and manage up-and-coming brokers. We congratulate Michael on this much-deserved promotion.”

He serves on the board of advisors for the Colliers’ Accelerate Program, which was created to train the next generation of brokers. He also works with the Strategic Initiative Committee, tasked with providing organizational development and thought leadership with a core focus of maintaining a cutting edge platform. Prior to becoming a commercial broker in 2007, he served in the property management and research departments at Colliers’ New York office.

In addition to his responsibilities at Colliers, he sponsors the Headstrong Project’s “Words of War” fundraiser, offering returning veterans access to premier mental healthcare. He is also a committee member and mentor with the Bulldog Cares Foundation. BCF supports disadvantaged youth as they pursue physical and personal development through athletics, education, and mentoring.
